"Perimenopause and Menopause can be a positive and reflective time in a woman's life, focusing inward on what her needs are. I believe proper treatment of hot flashes, insomnia, mood changes, joint pains and fatigue reduce risks of future health problems, so you can enter this next phase of life with clarity and empowerment. Bioidentical hormone therapy has been shown to be a safe way to treat menopause and proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. Estrogen therapy has also been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

I also treat hypothyroidism in a holistic manner using both T4 and T3 as needed.

Patient education is key for you to make informed choices and I practice evidence based medicine, attending conferences in western and integrative medicine for a holistic approach to healthcare. It is an honor for me to be trusted in your health and I am dedicated to providing excellent care."

PERIMENOPAUSE: Using a combination of bioidentical hormones and supplements to support the symptoms of fluctuating hormones.
MENOPAUSE: Providing bioidentical hormone therapy and non-hormonal treatments tailored to the individual.
BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS: Individualized treatment of menopausal symptoms brought on by breast cancer treatments.
HYPOTHYROIDISM: Management of thyroid hormones, individually targeted to your symptoms and lab values.
PREVENTIVE MEDICINE: Thorough review of your medical history and family history during your initial visit to screen for increase risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancers. Ordering labs and referring to specialists if needed. Applying dietary recommendations, sleep hygiene education, supplements, exercise, and goal setting for improved health.

Sophie Hunt is a board certified Physician Assistant with over 22 years of experience in adult internal medicine, women's health, and preventive care. She is now focusing on effective treatment of perimenopause, menopause, hypothyroidism, and supporting breast cancer survivor's symptoms. She uses bioidentical hormone therapy when appropriate and takes a holistic and empathetic approach in taking care of your health.
Sophie Hunt, PA-C received her B.S. in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Southwestern Health Science Center (2001). She graduated magna cum laude from Texas State with a B.S. in Biology (1996).
She is a Menopause Society Certified Practioner (MSCP), NCCPA board certified and a member of AAPA.
She and her husband live in SW Austin with their 2 sons & dogs, and she enjoys traveling & exposure to different cultures, hiking/camping, and time with friends and family.

TREATMENT PLAN EXPECTATIONS

Following the first new visit and implementing your new regimen, there will be a follow up visit in 2 months. Then, following up in 3-4 months intervals depending on your symptoms and response to therapy. Close follow ups are important if we are trying to achieve goals. There could be up to 4 visits in the first year. This comes to $775 for the first year, which is less than most membership models. This is an investment in your current and future health and wellbeing.

In order to spend more time with patients, please be aware that I do not participate in any insurance plans. However, I will provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement according to your plan's out-of-network benefits. You can also use your HSA. Please note- fees do not include labs, prescriptions or imaging. You can use your health insurance benefits for labs, imaging, and prescriptions per your plan coverage.

Does Sophie Hunt, PA-C offer pellet therapy?

Pellet therapy is not offered at this practice because of the supra-physiologic hormone levels this can create.

Yes, patients who live in Texas can choose to be seen in office or by telemedicine visit.
